[Designtechnica News] Canon PowerShot SD630 Review

"Three of the biggest trends for 2006 are digicams with more potent 6-megapixel imagers, larger 3-inch LCD screens and higher sensitivity (ISO). For those not swimming in the digital camera sea every day, 6MP imagers are the new sweet spot for most manufacturers, up from 5 last year and 4MP the in 2004. Since next year is 2007, will 7MP be new standard at that time? Who cares? We’ll deal with what’s currently in our hands--which are cameras with ever higher resolution. "

A few weeks ago I got me a new notebook from Lenovo, the Thinkpad X60s. Soon I realized that the default memory configuration of 512 MB is not enough. Since the official memory upgrades are rather expensive I thought I'd give G.SKILL notebook memory a try. These modules come for about half the price of the original memory and offer rock stable performance for your memory hungry applications.

Delphi MyFi xm2go Satellite Receiver Review

Think of the MyFi as the Sony Walkman of satellite radio. The Delphi MyFi xm2go is a 7 ounce satellite radio receiver and recorder that will work at the beach, at the gym, in your car, or anywhere else you can dream up. At 4.5 inch high by 2.8 inch wide by 1.3" deep the MyFi is about the size of a large portable music player. The unit itself is a model of simplicity; 15 buttons, a 2.2" monochrome display, a headphone jack and a docking connector.Review Link ~ Digitalgrabber

One of the most useful server features is a hot-swappable drive bay. Some entry-level servers do not include this feature, or you may have a PC configuration that makes uninstalling hard drives a time-consuming process. Vantec has answered the call with their EZ-Swap2 hot-swappable drive bay. It supports SATA and SATA 2 drives. These can be useful for the desktop user who wants to physically swap out their boot drives, take data with you, or can be used in a RAID array to support hot-swapping of naughty drives.
Brando Workshop USB 2.0 to SATA / IDE Cable Review

Installation was pretty simple - plug the IDE connector into the drive, and the power connector, then plug the power connector into the mains. The drive spins up, then plug the USB cable into the PC and it detects it as per usual for USB-connected hard drives. This is the recommended order for connecting the drive - as in, don't plug USB in and then power it up. I actually did that first and it didn't detect the drive. The HAL-like red LED indicates USB activity, by the way.Review Link ~ OCAU

The TechZone reviews the Sapphire X800 GTO2

The Sapphire X800 GTO2 is one of those product that bargain hunters love to find. You see, this card really isn't an X800, it's really a lot more. The limited edition X800 GTO2 is based on the ATI R480 core, not the R430 core used by other X800 video cards. For those out of the loop, the R480 core is the same core that drives the ultra fast X850 XT. So why is this card call an X800? Because four of its 16 pixel pipelines are turn off. That makes it just like any other X800 video cards, with 12 pixel pipelines. However, using a widely available BIOS tweak will enable the remaining four pixel pipelines, so you'll have a graphics card with the same number of pipes as the X850XT.Review Link ~ The Techzone

Epson PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition Review

Professional small-format photos the easy way, with a compact portable photo printer roughly the same size as a loaf of bread and engineered like a nuclear powered toaster! It makes digital photography easy and fun for all the family, even the Windows print driver is comparatively simple. This is practically the swan-song for the once lucrative but frustrating and time consuming commercial photo processing market. The PictureMate 500 is marketed as a printing accessory for any digital camera, it supports direct printing from PictBridge cameras, popular digital camera technologies and a computer is optional for most printing tasks, however it can not execute complex manipulations, such as red eye reduction.Review Link ~ Dark Vision Hardware
